Fujitsu Scansnap Scanners

Scan Settings for Different Document Types

Fujitsu Scansnap Scanners

Scanners capture a digital image of documents. When scanning it is important to understand the different types of documents and the suitable setting to achieve the highest quality.

Text documents

Scanning text documents is a relatively smooth process that does not take a lot of time. Documents with only pure text information can be efficiently scanned with a normal image quality setting and the use of black and white scanning mode. This combination also allows the scanner to scan at it's fastest speed. On the other hand, documents with text images or watermarks such as legal documents or certificates are best scanned with automatic color detection. The ScanSnap S1300i or iX500 is both handy and easy to use with its duplex scanning function, allowing a two-sided document to be scanned. Text documents should also be saved as a searchable PDF making it easy to locate any keyword within the scanned document.

Coloured documents

Colored documents like your identification or business card work best using the colored mode of scan. The ScanSnap family of document scanners are mostly portable and have excellent color quality. Scanners like the iX100 come with a feature that allows back to back information to be scanned, allowing the user to feed up to two cards at a time.

Photo

Scanning multiple photos can be a hassle but scanning a stack of photos at once can be a breeze with the ScanSnap iX500 that comes with a built-in automatic document feeder function. Simply choose 'Colored' mode and select scan at 'Best' or 'Excellent' setting to produce a high resolution and reliable batch of images.

All settings are configurable and can be saved as custom profiles which makes it easy to switch between different types of scanning options. A little forethought will ensure that your end-product files are as small as reasonably possible while retaining all the information that you need.
